Ange Postecoglou on Celtic transfer latest ahead of January window

Ange Postecoglou admits Celtic are not close to announcing any further January deals as things stand.

The Hoops manager earlier this week said that a third capture of the winter window was “pretty close now”.

However, ahead of today’s game against St Johnstone, the Australian has tried to temper any expectations from supporters that more transfers are imminent.

Alastair Johnston and Yuki Kobayashi have already signed on the dotted line for the Scottish champions ahead of the window opening on January 1.

While speculation has been growing over a third addition being secured nice and early, that doesn’t quite appear to be the case.

In the aftermath of Celtic’s 2-1 win over Livingston, Postecoglou was probed on the possibility of signing Cho Gue-Sung. The striker starred for South Korea at the World Cup.

The 24-year-old has been widely touted as a replacement for Giorgos Giakoumakis, who looks to be on his way out of the club.

“Who’s that?,” Postecoglou replied when asked about a potential striker coming in soon.

When the player was namechecked, he continued: “No. Look, like I said we are working on a few things.

“If, and when, they get done you’ll hear about them, but right now we are not sort-of close enough to really think we need say anything but that may change soon.”

The Hoops take on Callum Davidson's side at 12.30pm on Christmas Eve.
