Ange Postecoglou issues Celtic treble response as he makes 'formula' claim with Carl Starfelt update

Ange Postecoglou insists his focus on the next game as he gives ‘boring’ answer to treble talk from the stands.

The Celtic boss watched his side march onto Hampden for the semi-finals of the Scottish Cup after dismantling Hearts at Tynecastle. With the League Cup already in the bag and a nine-point gap in the league, that result, a 3-0 win in Edinburgh sparked wild celebrations from the Hoops faithful who sang they “want the lot.”

Goals from Aaron Mooy, Kyogo Furuhashi and Cameron Carter-Vickers were enough to help steer the Hoops past a tricky away tie and into the next round. The show piece final will take place in May and with one and a half trophies in the bag the treble is now on for Postecoglou’s high-flying side.

But the Australian boss refused to be drawn into talking about winning all three pieces of silverware this season as he vowed to stick by his formula.

Viaplay reporter Rob McLean asked Postecoglou: “The fans are singing we want the lot. The treble? Is it in your sights.”

Postecoglou replied: “We’ve got Hibs next week mate and that’s what’s in my sights, as boring as that may seem it seems to be working for us. So I’m not going to change our formula."

Postecoglou also detailed his reason for bringing off Carl Starfelt. The Swedish centre back was struggling before being hooked at half time and Postecoglou says he doesn't fear the injury is "anything significant."

He said: “He felt a niggle in his hip flexor and flagged that to us early on. We got him through to half-time but you could see he wasn’t moving well, so we made the change. I don’t think it’s anything significant”

Celtic face Hibs at home next week before an away trip to Ross County. They could face Rangers again at Hampden, with their city rivals playing tomorrow against Raith Rovers. Other opponents they could face are Inverness, Falkirk or Ayr.
