It might have been a better result for the green half of Glasgow in terms of the title race but Rangers fans were the happier Hotliners in the wake of their team’s display at Parkhead.
Gary Stevenson, Newtonhill, said: “Well there is one thing for sure, anyone who watched the Old Firm game will know who has the best team.
"Rangers’ injury list cost them as they had nobody on the bench who could change the game. Morelos would have scored a hat trick, no doubt about it. Transfers are needed to strengthen the squad. Next stop, European semi final. Bring it on.”
Alex Jappy emailed: “I’ll bet there were 60,000 squeaky bums the more the game went on, as Rangers were very unfortunate not to win the game. Only the post and a great save by Hart stopped Rangers from winning.”
Frank McFerran, from Carrickfergus, said: “So a full strength Celtic team couldn’t beat an injury-ridden Rangers team. The second half was all Rangers and Celtic were lucky they got a point. Ange is a one trick pony.”
Paul Jenkins, Falkirk, emailed: “Celtic one shot on target tells you everything about the Old Firm game. Unlucky Rangers, but that’s the minor one out of the way. Now on to the biggest game in Scottish football for 14 years.”
George Wilson, West Sussex, said: “Rangers were by far the better team once again and have handed a very average Celtic team the title with the drawn games around February. Celtic had one shot on target and rather than a glorious title winning victory the Celtic crowd were silenced and were sweating and hanging on for a draw at the end.
“Leipzig will have seen enough to know Rangers will be a different proposition at Ibrox and Rangers can put all their efforts now into reaching another final and going on to an remarkable European victory to eclipse anything Celtic achieve.”
Celtic fan Gordon Ashley, Ayr, countered with: “Well done to Celtic as that result confirms we will be champions again, what a turnaround from last season and it will be interesting to see what Ange can do with champions league cash as this team still needs at least six new first team players. We have won this title halfway through a rebuild and will be twice as strong next season.”
And Henry Moffat, Stirling, said: “You have to laugh at crying Rangers fans on phone ins trying to say they are a better team than us, just because they have had a couple of 20 minutes spells during Glasgow derbies when they’ve been on top. Celtic should have buried that game in the first half and could have been four up. Dry your eyes - the best team has romped this league.”
But Tam Williamson, Lanarkshire, emailed: “The crazy ‘playing out from the back’ by the Celtic defence is an absolute shambles. The game should have been over at half time. Ange has a coaching team who couldn’t defend a fish supper in a cattery. The league is over but Rangers cashed in on the defensive shambles and deserved their draw.
"But if Celtic go into the Champions League with such a crazy defensive mindset then they will be humiliated in Europe once again. Address the problem now Ange.”
Benjamin Clarke, Balornock, said: “Celtic are not showing a willingness to win the league, McGregor wasted too many passes and he’s not captain material. Ralston is our weakest link.”
Away from the Old Firm, John Scott, Grassmoor, emailed: “I have the utmost respect for Michael Stewart and his volley direct from a corner sits firmly in my memory of special Hibs goals. However I disagree with his view that Hibs should have kept Jack Ross, at the very least to ensure stability. That’s always been Hibs’ problem. No stability. Good or bad we regularly lose managers within a few seasons.
"Look at Jack as an example. He was touted for the Celtic job during his spell at Hibs and don’t dare say he wouldn’t have jumped at the chance. As a consequence the turnover of players is huge and stalwart Lewis Stevenson would be hard pressed to name all the players he’s seen to come and go, never mind the managers.
“We are screaming out for a bit of razzmatazz as Michael calls it. We can’t get stability until we employ experience. Someone with a long term plan who won’t jump ship at the next job away from Easter Road.”
Davie Hamilton, Oban, said: “Congratulations to Dundee what goes around comes round and I hope they enjoy the championship while Hearts enjoy Europe.”
And finally, Alan Lough, Dunbar, emailed: “Congratulations to Carlo Ancelotti for becoming the first person, player or manager, to win a league title in each of the top 5 leagues in Europe. This is a far greater achievement than anything done before by anyone else in football history. He should be proud of himself and deserves all the respect he gets.”
