Ange Postecoglou is adamant Celtic must approach their Champions League test by doing things their way.
The Premiership champions are back in the big time as they prepare for a first group stage campaign at UEFA's top table since 2017. Postecoglou 's side have been drawn against RB Leipzig, Shakhtar Donetsk plus current holders and all-time record winners Real Madrid.
Last season's Double-winning boss is under no illusions as to the scale of the challenge but maintains his team can only gauge their progress by playing "our football". Postecoglou's Celtic have been characterised by a high tempo attacking style and the 56-year-old has no plans to back down in the fancy of European football's elite. Group F will kick off on either September 6 or 7 - UEFA is set to confirm its schedule in the next 24 hours - and Postecoglou wants to build Premiership momentum to help springboard his side into their first continental clash in as good a place as possible.
He told Sky Sports: "It's a good challenge for a club like ours. We want to be there and we want to be there every year and it starts with us making an impact this year. The first thing is you want to go into feeling good; your league form is good leading up to it and the players are in good space, mentally and physically. That's the key for us.
"We've got three games before then. When we get there it's about testing ourselves, measuring ourselves, playing our football. We'll know after those first couple of games where we're at. The key thing is, from our perspective, to find that out playing our football."
