Ange Postecoglou in spikey Spurs reaction to Cristian Romero poser

Ange Postecoglou started life as a Premier League manager with a point.

Tottenham earned a 2-2 draw away to Brentford this afternoon.

Cristian Romero and Emerson Royal scored the goals which ensured a share of the spoils with Spurs' London rivals.

Most of the goalmouth action took place in the first half, with Bryan Mbwemo and Yoane Wissa notching for the hosts.

Romero would be subbed off by Postecoglou during the first period too.

After a head knock, it became apparent that the Argentine was showing signs of concussions. So, protocols were followed and the defender was taken off.

The player was far from happy with the call, as he exchanged words with Postecoglou and walked down the tunnel.

But Postecolgou insists he was right to withdraw the 25-year-old, and he was typically spikey when asked about the incident post-match.

He told Sky Sports: "I think it was quite evident that he hit his head. We are in an era where we know about these things and I'm not a doctor.

"Any time where these things happen we protect the players. They don't know themselves what is going wrong.

"The disappointing thing for me is that apparently we filed the wrong paperwork for a concussion sub. In this day and age a piece of paper is not what is important, but there was no hesitation in taking him off."

It comes after Roy Keane delivered a blunt message to Postecoglou about his achievements at Celtic prior to his bow as a Premier League boss.

He said: "There's got to be winning in football We have been critical of Spurs over the last few years, need and tidy but they don't get enough results.

"Not strong enough, not hard enough, not consistent enough. He is obviously a very positive coach and is attack-minded but getting results at Celtic would mean very little when he comes to the Premier League.

"It will be very difficult and has lost his main attacking player. But give the man an opportunity, he's vastly experienced and managed hundreds of games, but it is going to be a tough ask for him."
