Ange Postecoglou in defiant Celtic Champions League view insisting as 'we'll get our rewards' after Shakhtar stalemate

Bullish Ange Postecoglou insists Celtic will get their rewards in the Champions League if they hit the same heights they managed against Shakhtar Donesk.

The Scottish Premiership champions got their first point of the group stage having bossed the Ukrainain side for long periods of the game, but were unable to score the vital second goal in Warsaw. Reo Hatate forced an early own goal off Artem Bondarenko as Ange Postecoglou's side started like a train, only to be pegged back by the electric Mykhaylo Mudryk.

Celtic racked up chances with Giorgos Giakoumakis and Diazen Maeda among those who missed glorious second half opportunities to take three Champions League points back to Glasgow's east end. However, Postecoglou refused to be deflated following the full-time whistle. Speaking after the draw with the Ukranian side Postecoglou said: "The performance was excellent. It's always difficult at this level to dominate games but I thought we started the game really well, got our goal, and then obviously they got their goal.

"I thought we regrouped really well after that second half. The performance was excellent, but obviously the result was not reflective of that.

"The player's gave everything. That's all I can ask for. We needed that second goal, and we had good chances to get it.

"From my perspective I can't ask any more of them. We'll get our rewards if we keep playing that kind of football and showing that kind of commitment."
