Ange Postecoglou in Celtic improvement call as he states how Gavin Strachan is helping Harry Kewell

Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou says Harry Kewell's ability as a coach will rise as he works with the likes of Gavin Strachan.

The Australian football legend was brought into his countryman's coaching staff at Celtic this summer after spells managing in the lower leagues of England. It adds to a coaching staff group that already holds John Kennedy, Gavin Strachan, Stephen McManus and Darren O'Dea.

Postecoglou didn't bring any of his own staff with him when arriving in Glasgow last year and has worked with those already at the Hoops, with Kewell brought in to improve himself and the players. Daily work with other coaches will help everybody involved.

Postecoglou said ahead of this afternoon's Premiership opener against Aberdeen at Parkhead: “We brought in Harry so that people don’t get too comfortable in terms of the voices they hear. My job is to ensure he keeps improving.

"He will learn from the likes of John Kennedy, Gavin Strachan, Stephen McManus and Darren O’Dea. They all help each other.”

Kewell enjoyed a glittering playing career at clubs like Galatasaray, Leeds United and Liverpool but management has proven a harder nut to crack.

Spells at Crawley Town, Notts County and Barnet have provided mixed results but he now has a chance with the Scottish champions.
