Ange Postecoglou fumes at Celtic presser interruption as bristling boss warns interpreter 'don't correct me'

From the moment he arrived in Scotland, Ange Postecoglou has proven himself as adept at handling the media spotlight as he is moulding an inverted full-back.

The Celtic boss isn't shy of a one-liner or a cold stare when he sits down to take questions and his approach in front of the microphone can be as uncompromising as his team on the pitch. One UEFA interpreter found that out to his cost following Celtic's Champions League draw with Shakhtar Donetsk on Wednesday night.

Postecoglou was reviewing his team's impressive performance, one that really ought to have yielded maximum points, when the interpreter interjected with an apology to ask him to speak closer to the microphone, claiming he couldn't hear what the manager was saying. Postecoglou, however, was less than impressed with the interruption. He shot back: "Instead of telling me what to do, can you just keep things really short so we can all get through and go out?"

The interpreter replied with "I'll try", to which the Parkhead gaffer said: "Just don't correct me, please, OK? Let's just keep things simple."

Postecoglou then turned back to the journalist who asked the original question to finish his answer, albeit with a somewhat sardonic self-interruption: "So, as I said, the performance was... did you hear that OK? Yeah? Thank you."

Celtic next face a double header with RB Leipzig in their bid to qualify from Group F.
