Ange Postecoglou fires Celtic 'can always get better' message ahead of Rangers Old Firm derby

Ange Postecoglou has fired a pre-derby warning to Rangers by insisting Celtic can get even BETTER.

The Hoops currently hold a nine point lead over Michael Beale and Co at the top of the Premiership standings ahead of Monday's Old Firm after recording 18 wins and just one defeat from their 19 games to date in the league. The defending champions, like the Light Blues, boast a 100 per cent record since returning from the World Cup shutdown and battered Hibs 4-0 at Easter Road last time out.

Celtic have received plaudits from opposition managers and pundits for their relentless attacking style this campaign and Postecoglou says his role is to keep pushing his troops to do even better, irrespective of results. He knows they are not going to fire four goals past teams weekly and sometimes games will be won by the odd goal, but maintains performance levels can still be at the high level he demands.

He said: “You’re not going to win every game 4-0, sometimes you win games 1-0 or 2-0.

“But your performances can still be at the levels you want them to be.

“My role, irrespective of results, is to keep pushing these boys on.

“We can always get better, and we’ll always strive to do that.”

Aaron Mooy netted his first two goals for the club in the demolition job of Lee Johnson's side in the capital.

He fired a half-volley beyond David Marshall before grabbing a second from the penalty spot.

Daizen Maeda also scored a stunner from range while Kyogo Furuhashi continued his recent scoring touch with a tidy finish to round off the big win at Easter Road to send Celtic into the derby showdown with Rangers full of confidence and flying.
