Ange Postecoglou earns ultimate Celtic comparison as Hotline caller offers Gio extreme Rangers advice

Celtic's four-goal demolition of Rangers continued to dominate the Hotline with some Ibrox fans demanding wholesale changes ahead of their Champions League clash with Ajax. Hoops fans on the other hand are relishing the challenge of hosting the holders Real Madrid.

John Scott, Grassmoor, said: "It's not the gulf between Celtic and Rangers that's the problem with the Scottish Premiership. It's the massive gulf between Celtic and the rest of the league. They can now spend more on one player than most of their opponents need for their entire annual budget. It was disappointing to read Hugh Keevins' remark about the rest buying 'Who's he?' players from the lower leagues in Britain. Our league is a good example of the cost of living crisis, there's nothing to celebrate if you are shopping in the 'who's he? aisle."

Stephen Johnstone, Ardentinny, emailed: "Celtic players are saying they can write their names into the Scottish football history books by beating the mighty Real Madrid. The only thing they will be beating on Tuesday is eggs in the club canteen, they need to get real and stop dreaming."

Kenny Wilson, Moffat, said: "Once again Celtic showed who’s the best team in Scotland by thumping this overrated Rangers team and showing everyone how bad they really are. Celtic were simply outstanding all over the pitch and once again Jota showed his class with yet another quality goal and to think not so long ago fans on here were telling us Ryan Kent is a better player."

Andy Logan , emailed: "After Matt O’Riley's dominant display against the European giants from Ibrox surely it added another £5million to his valuation. What a steal he has proven to be and will make Celtic a tidy profit when he moves to the EPL"

Drew Ferguson, Oban, said: "As a Rangers fan I hear the calls for the manager to change the goalkeeper but I would drop all eleven after Saturday. That performance was simply not good enough and to make matters worse the Celtic goalkeeper never had a shot to deal with and that's shameful."

Alan Flett emailed: " Gio van Bronckhorst has to bring back Allan McGregor in goal. I get why he decided to give Jon McLaughlin his chance but he’s not good enough to be the number one. He was completely at fault for the fourth goal and was culpable at the other three. Rangers had a bad day but they beat better teams than Celtic in Europe last season. I wouldn’t be surprised if they get a result against Ajax and Celtic get a doing from Real Madrid."

Bud Hay, Dumfries, emailed: "Gio will have to buy another seven players if Rangers aren't to be out of contention for the the league title before Christmas. Celtic are back and you better believe it, Rangers."

Stephen Mulhern, Dumbarton, said: "I’m reluctant to say it but I believe that Ange Postecoglou has instilled the belief that Celtic can overcome any side visiting Celtic Park in our current form. There are similarities to the Jock Stein era and we have a free hit against the holders on Tuesday and I’m anticipating another five star Jota performance. He must go down as the steal of the season in the current transfer market."

Sean Beech, Hampshire, said: "The mighty Rangers were finally going to put this rampant Celtic team in its place according to so many Hotline regulars. Yet on the day, the best effort from Rangers on target came from Callum McGregor who must have been feeling a little sorry that Joe Hart hadn’t seen much of the ball."

Gerry Murphy, Giffnock, emailed: "Connor Goldson should have been handed a straight red card for the challenge on Jota and I blame John Lundstram for the injury sustained by Kyogo."

Jack Armstrong, Bathgate, said: "Here we go again with the Rangers fans wanting to know where all the money has gone. Have they conveniently forgotten that they were £90 million in debt just over a year ago? I know they don't like it but debt has to be paid or you know what happens, does 2012 ring any bells? Now I know where the saying going about like a bear with a sore head comes from."
