Ange Postecoglou details Rod Stewart friendship as Celtic boss reveals 'deliveries' after big wins

Ange Postecoglou has detailed his friendship with Rod Stewart as he hailed the Celtic diehard and his 'good taste'.

The Hoops-daft rocker is regularly seen at Parkhead watching his heroes in action and he has struck up an unlikely bond with the man in the dugout - although he jokes that he probably gets on better with his wife than he does himself.

Postecoglou has enjoyed an incredible start to life in Glasgow as he recaptured the Premiership crown from Rangers in his first season and completed a domestic double by landing the Premier Sports Cup - now rebranded as the Viaplay Cup. That league triumph earned direct entry to the Champions League and allowed the gaffer to test himself against Real Madrid, Shakhtar Donetsk and RB Leipzig this term.

Things didn't go to plan on the big stage with just two points from six games but the Aussie boss is determined to get back to Europe's premier competition next season by lifting back to back league titles. His champions sit clear of Giovanni van Bronckhorst's men by nine points going into the World Cup break while they are also in the hunt for domestic silverware in both cup competitions.

It's the big wins along the way that have brought Ange and Rod closer together with the 57-year-old revealing he has had some deliveries after big victories.

The Celtic boss said: “He’s been very kind. There’s been some deliveries after, let’s just say, significant victories.

“To be fair, he probably gets along with my Mrs more than he does with me, which won’t be a surprise to some. He’s very generous and he’s so passionate about Celtic. It’s brilliant. He’s also got good taste…”

Telling his side of the story, Rod said: "I know Ange and his wife. I always see his wife in the director’s box when I go up there to see Celtic.

"Every time Ange beats Rangers, I send him a crate of Australian wine – I think it’s twice now. And if they beat them again I will send him another crate of Australian wine.

"He is such a lovely fella. The only word I can use is cool – the players and the fans love him. Thank you for giving him to us."
