Ange Postecoglou confirms Celtic star Cameron Carter-Vickers unavailable through injury

Reason for Josip Juranovic and Cameron Carter-Vickers Celtic absence explained

ANGE POSTECOLGOU has revealed Cameron Carter-Vickers missed out on featuring for Celtic against St Mirren after pulling up "a bit sore".

The US international has been a key player for Postecoglou since his arrival last summer but doesn't feature in the matchday squad in Paisley.

Instead Stephen Welsh comes into the starting line-up.

And Postecoglou admitted the defender missed out through soreness following the midweek Champions League clash with Shakhtar Donetsk.

Josip Juranovic also misses the match. However, the Celtic boss suggested this was just to give the full-back a rest.

Asked about the changes to his side, Postecoglou explained: "Just wanting to win the game of football and putting the best team out there.

"Midweek a couple of the boys pulled up sore so we had to leave them out today but also we have got some quality players who are ready to go.

"We're going to need the energy today and I'm sure they'll deliver.

"Cameron pulled up a bit sore the other night so he wasn't available and with Jura he has played a lot of football. With Tony coming in it made sense to give him a break."
