Ange Postecoglou close to tears as Celtic boss celebrates title with emotional interview

Ange Postecoglou close to tears as Celtic boss celebrates title with emotional interview

ANGE POSTECOGLOU was close to tears as he celebrated winning the Scottish Premiership with an emotional interview on Sky Sports.

The Hoops regained the cinch Premiership title with a game to spare despite being held to a 1-1 draw by Dundee United at Tannadice.

And speaking after the match, Postecoglou told Sky: "The fans had a tough year last year.

"Not just the fact that we didn't win anything but they couldn't come and support their team.

"They've been right behind us since day one. I couldn't be happier.

"I'm really proud of this group of player and staff.

"I think our football has been outstanding but the character this team has shown through the last 31 games to rise to every challenge, I couldn't be more proud of them."

Celtic looked set to get over the line in victorious fashion when Giorgos Giakoumakis opened the scoring with his 15th goal of the campaign after the break but Dylan Levitt hit back for the hosts.

In the end, it was a result that suited both teams as Ange Postecoglou was able to savour confirmation of title glory in his first season in charge of the Parkhead side, while United sealed their place in the Europa Conference League qualifiers.

Postecoglou added: "(It's) pretty special mate. For the first time this year, I'm lost for words.

"It's just an enormous effort and I'm really proud of the players and the staff.

"No-one gave us much of a chance at the start of the year so to do what we've done this year is an unbelievable effort."
