Ange Postecoglou Celtic backroom team member confirms Parkhead exit

Anton McElhone has confirmed he has left his role as head of sports science at Celtic.

Ange Postecoglou had brought McElhone into Celtic during his time in Glasgow.

However, McElhone has revealed he has now left the club as he saved a special mention for now Spurs boss Postecoglou for the opportunity.

Brendan Rodgers has added to the Celtic backroom team prior to McElhone's announcement with Glenn Driscoll returning to the club and analyst Jack Lyons also coming back to the club.

John Kennedy, Harry Kewell, Gavin Strachan and Stevie Woods also remain in the Celtic backroom team.

But McElhone has revealed he is looking forward to his "next adventure" after working in the "dream" role at Celtic for just over a year.

He posted on social media: "Dare to Dream! It had been my dream to work at Celtic FC as Head of Sports Science since 2002, and I'm very grateful to the BOSS (Ange Postecoglou) for bringing me to this wonderful club.

"It's been a pleasure to work in Paradise for the past 2 seasons, but it is time to move on, and look forward to my next adventure.

"I would like to thank everyone I worked with in helping make the club Champions again and again!

"Lots of thanks to the people who supported the team in making them Champions League!

"We never stop on the journey of doing something special in life!

"Dream...Believe...Achieve..."

Meanwhile, Maik Nawrocki is set to make his Celtic bow in the match against Atletico Bilbao tonight.

On Monday, he said:  "I'm ready to play tomorrow. It was better to stay one more day off, than coming back too early.

"It will not be easy [to get in to the team] but we will see what with the game tomorrow and then what will be on Saturday."
