Ange Postecoglou backed for English Premier League after Celtic as David Martindale raves about rival

David Martindale reckons it's only a matter of time before Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou is lured to the Premier League.

The Livingston gaffer will pit his wits against the Aussie coach at Almondvale today. He's been hugely impressed by Postecoglou's impact at Parkhead and says they're red-hot favourites to be Premiership champions again this season. But Martindale believes the 57-year-old will eventually be prized away from Celtic by an English top flight club.

Ahead of today's clash in West Lothian, he said: "We can all see Ange's trajectory. "He's been in the A-League, the J-League, here and if he keeps doing what he's doing it won't be long before Ange is managing a team in the English Premier League - if that's what Ange wants to do. He'll maybe progress Celtic in the Champions League group stage because that's probably the next evolution for them - and he's more than capable of doing that. I enjoy listening to Ange, he's very open and honest, he's candid in how he speaks. Celtic have made players better and Ange is at the forefront of that."

If Celtic beat Livingston today, they'll go four points clear of Rangers at the top of the table.

And Martindale expects them to make it two titles in a row next May.

But he's determined to come up with a game-plan to take three points off them this afternoon.

He said: "My plan for Sunday? Two banks of five, come and beat us! We'll be like Atletico Livingston, that's what I'm going with.

"Seriously, will there be slight tweaks to what we did at Rangers last week? I think there will be.

"But Celtic are the standout team in the country right now. It's their title to lose so it's going to be a very difficult game for us."
