Ange in knowing Callum McGregor wink as Celtic captain allowed 'one error a career'

Ange Postecoglou has knowlingly to the defence of Callum McGregor after his error denied Celtic a clean sheet in their win over Kilmarnock.

The Parkhead club ran out comfortable winners in Ayrshire with a 4-1 win thanks to a double from Matt O'Riley and strikes from Kyogo Furuhashi and Daizen Maeda. Relegation-threatened Kilmarnock pulled one back before half-time through Liam Donnelly following an error from Celtic captain Callum McGregor. Cameron Carter-Vickers and Jota were absent for Celtic, who brought in Yuki Kobayashi, Tomoki Iwata and Sead Haksabanovic. Kilmarnock also made three changes as fit-again Kyle Vassell returned along with Ash Taylor and Fraser Murray.

Celtic regained their 12 point lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership after Rangers narrowed the gap to nine after Michael Beale's side defeated St Mirren 5-2 at Ibrox on Saturday afternoon. Speaking to the BBC, Postecoglou was asked about the mistake from McGregor, he said: "He's allowed one error a career, mate."

He added: "Our first half was outstanding - probably as well as we've played all year. Second half, we got a bit sloppy and never got into any rhythm. Overall, knowing the challenge here today, really pleased. Our football was brilliant, everyone was kind of in-sync. Our finishing composure, apart from the penalty, was excellent.

"We've had a real strong squad contribution the whole year. We needed it today and we got it."
