Ange comes out swinging over Rangers rebuild as bullish Celtic boss issues ‘junk time’ snarl

Ange Postecoglou says he isn't concerning himself with what Rangers are doing in the transfer market and says next season everyone will see who is "really strong".

The Aussie issued a stern response to being quizzed on the shakers and movers across the city, with Michael Beale teasing new arrivals at Ibrox while five first-team stars have left the club this week including top billers Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Kent. Meanwhile Postecoglou will be building his side for another Champions League charge after securing the Scottish Premiership crown and being one game away from a domestic treble.

Postecoglou insists he won't get bogged down on business outside of Celtic in the 'junk time' of the season and that when asked if he expects a tougher title challenge from Ibrox, he says the proof will be in the pudding on the pitch come the restart of the league.

He said: "I don't know why that would even concern me to be honest. I think this time last year Rangers were in a Europa League Final and a Scottish Cup Final and they strengthened after the season didn't they? So, does anyone really care? Like, seriously.

"We didn't start favourites in my first year, probably weren't overwhelming favourites this year so people will say what they want mate. Everyone's got a plan until they get punched on the nose and you reassess from there. When we start next year, everyone will see who's really strong and who isn't strong and all that sort of stuff. Right now, league wise anyway, it's the equivalent of junk time mate. We just get on with it."
