Coronation Street star Andy Whyment was almost forced to leave a Craig David gig with his family after being accosted by drunk fans.
The actor, who plays loveable Kirk in the long-running ITV soap, attended the concert at Haydock Park Racecourse in Merseyside over the weekend.
His wife Nichola and their two kids, Tom, 14, and Hollie, 12, were also there when things started to kick off.
Sharing what had happened on her Instagram page, Nichola posted a family snap of the four of them.
But in the caption she detailed how their day was ruined by “really drunk people” who wouldn’t leave Andy alone.
She wrote: “Would love to say I had the best time watching Craig, but the reality of it is I didn’t! I enjoyed 11 minutes!!
“The rest of the time I was on edge due to really drunk people accosting Andy and becoming arsey which resulted in Hollie getting upset and us having to leave!!
“Luckily @the_bus_yard saved the day and we watched Craig from on there but my head had fallen off at this point.”
Blasting the yobs who ruined their day, Nichola added: “I’m annoyed with myself for thinking that we are able to go somewhere like this as a family and enjoy it.
“Social media only show the highlights as looking at these pictures you would think we had the best time ever so a little reminder to not compare yourself to others.”
Former Emmerdale actor Danny Miller commented underneath the post, writing: "So annoying that!! Can’t understand why people can’t let him enjoy it too just as they are!! One of the nicest guys in the business! Sorry people ruined a family day of yours when they were probably doing the same as you and yours without the hassle #NOselecta."
A friend with them at the gig penned: “A real opener for us and one we weren’t quite prepared for.”
Praising Andy, the pal continued: “Andy is the most accommodating and welcoming person, never says no to anyone wanting a picture (or a fist pump), literally says yes to all because he is that kind of lovely man.
“The disrespect is like nothing I’ve ever seen and it makes me beyond sad to think such events are a no go in the future to ensure the safety of the children and Andy for that matter.
“The @the_bus_yard were our saving grace for some time out before the sharp exit to the car park! As you say, the photos show a very different story to the reality faced! Love you guys and in future house parties it is xxx.”
Reacting in the comments underneath Andy’s pal, former Emmerdale star Danny Miller said: “So annoying that!!
“Can’t understand why people can’t let him enjoy it too just as they are!! One of the nicest guys in the business! Sorry people ruined a family day of yours when they were probably doing the same as you and yours without the hassle #Noselecta.”
Fans also rushed to offer messages of support with one saying: “That’s shocking behaviour. Hope you’re all OK now.”
A second commented: “That’s awful. You are entitled to have time with your family. Sorry, this has happened to you. Utter disrespect.”
“Such a shame. Have met Andy a couple of times and he is always so polite and happy to have photos done. Such a lovely down to earth family. What a shame. Thank you for sharing the reality,” a third penned.
“What a horrible world we live in. It’s shocking and appalling behaviour,” said a fourth.
While a fifth added: “Hope Hollie is ok. Gutted you had your family night ruined. Andy’s always so accommodating anyone who comes over (even d***heads). Just wish people would respect your family time xx.”
