Andy Walker believes Celtic will want to sign another striker similar to Giorgos Giakoumakis if the Greek players decides to move on in the January window.
According to reports the 28-year-old is believed to be wanted by Danish outfit FC Midtjylland, however there is a stumbling block of his valuation with the Premiership leaders looking to make a healthy profit on the deal. Record Sport revealed last month that talks with the Parkhead side over a new deal had broken down and Giakoumakis had been left unsettled
Speaking on Go Radio, Walker said he rates Giakoumakis highly. He added: "I'm not sure. Celtic are always a club to do business with to make a profit on a player. I have said all along that I've enjoyed Giakoumakis, I've liked his attitude when he's pretty much been a regular substitute. When he comes on he can turn games, he was involved in the Kyogo goal by bustling a couple of Rangers players.
"His last two performances, apart from the game at New Year, against Rangers I think he was absolutely terrific. If he does go then Celtic will want to get someone similar."
Giakoumakis was a substitute in the derby on Monday and came on to help Celtic secure a vital point to keep the champions nine points clear at the top of the league.
He has 25 goals in 55 appearances for the Hoops, while manager Ange Postecoglou made it clear Kyogo Furuhashi is his main frontman. He is also looking at bringing in another striker this month. Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors claim they have an offer for their South Korean international Cho Gue-sung from Celtic, although it is for less than their valuation.
