Andy Walker reckons under pressure Gio van Bronckhorst has three games to save his Rangers career off the back of the dismal Champions League campaign.
The Dutchman led the Ibrox side to the worst ever Champions League campaign with Rangers failing to claim a single point and finishing with a whopping -20 goal difference after a series of heavy defeats at the hands of Liverpool, Napoli and Ajax. It's a massive comedown for the Light Blues support after watching their side rub shoulders with European heavyweights last term on route to the Europa League Final.
In the Scottish Premiership, Rangers have struggled to inspire confidence in their ability to reclaim the title from rivals Celtic, with Ange Postecolgou's side holding a four-point lead at the top of the table so far this term. Rangers face St Johnstone on Sunday, which is followed by clashes with Hearts and St Mirren before the league goes into cold storage during the World Cup.
Former Celtic star Walker reckons that the trio of games before the tournament in Qatar will be crucial in swaying the Rangers board to stick with the boss. However, he admits some fans have already turned on Van Bronckhorst's style of football.
He told Sky Sports: "They had a lot of respect just a few months ago when they reached the final of the Europa League with some really stirring performances, but that respect is gone now. It's the worst record in Champions League history and they have been well beaten.
"They have been outplayed and lost heavily, and they have not been good enough to compete in the Champions League. It has been a sorry tale."
When quizzed on if there were any concerns about Van Bronckhorst's future, Walker went on: "Of course there is. If you are second in Glasgow it's useless, it's a two horse race.
"I think when you look at the way Rangers are playing; I mean I speak to a lot of Rangers fans and season ticket holders and they don't enjoy what they are seeing. It's a bit of a slog, it's not great to watch.
"There are questions over one or two of the players and their commitment and attitude, and clearly that has to change. They are four points behind Celtic in the title race.
"Every game is so important. They have three games before the break for the World Cup and it's essential they take maximum points."
