Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has found himself the target of playful jibes in the Reds’ dressing room after his public criticism of Mohamed Salah.
Carragher recently expressed disappointment over Salah’s remarks about his unresolved contract situation.
The Egyptian forward, whose current deal expires at the end of the season, admitted he felt “more out than in” regarding his future at Anfield, raising eyebrows among fans and pundits.
Salah’s comments came after Liverpool’s narrow 3-2 victory over Southampton and were seen by Carragher as ill-timed.
Carragher’s Comments on Salah
In his criticism, Carragher told Sky Sports he was disheartened by Salah’s decision to discuss his contract issues publicly, especially at such a crucial point in the season.
The former centre-back argued that Salah’s focus — as well as that of other Liverpool stars — should remain on securing the Premier League title.
“I am very disappointed with Mo Salah,” he remarked.
“Now, the most important thing for Liverpool this season is not the future of Salah, Virgil van Dijk, or Trent Alexander-Arnold. It’s Liverpool winning the Premier League — that is more important than any of those players,” Carragher said.
He also questioned the behaviour of Salah and his agent, Ramy Abbas, pointing to cryptic social media posts as distractions that could unsettle the team.

Liverpool Dressing Room Response
Following Liverpool’s emphatic 2-0 Champions League win against Real Madrid on Wednesday night, Robertson couldn’t resist poking fun at Carragher during a post-match interview with CBS.
The Scottish left-back revealed that Carragher had been on the receiving end of some ribbing from the squad.
“He [Carragher] has been getting a bit of stick in the changing room, that’s for sure,” Robertson said with a grin. When pressed for more details, he cheekily replied, “No comment, I think I’ll leave that!”
Robertson tempered the banter. “He gets paid to do his job, and I think all you [reporters] do. It’s part and parcel of football. He has to give his opinion, and whether we agree with it or not, sometimes is a different story.”
Robertson saying “he has been getting some stick in the dressing room this week that’s for sure”, says all you need to know.
The players are behind Salah too.
They probably planned it all.But for some reason a club legend isn’t.

Salah’s Uncertain Liverpool Future
While Robertson’s light-hearted response diffused tension, Salah’s contract saga remains unresolved.
The forward, a key figure in Liverpool’s success over the past seven years, is reportedly eager to stay at Anfield, but no agreement has been reached.
Discussions between the club and Salah’s agent are ongoing, with fans anxiously awaiting a resolution.
Carragher, despite his criticism, is among those hoping Salah extends his stay.
