Andy Robertson insists Liverpool will take motivation from their soon-to-be trophyless season as they enter a defining week in the quest for Champions League football.
The Reds return to Premier League action on Saturday lunchtime as they cross the M62 to face familiar foes Manchester City and Pep Guardiola, before fixtures against Chelsea and Arsenal in the following eight days.
Sitting sixth in the Premier League standings with a dozen games of the campaign remaining, the three heavyweight clashes look set to determine whether Jurgen Klopp and his side will manage to leapfrog both Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur and qualify for Europe's premier competition for a seventh consecutive season.

Robertson, who captained Scotland to a historic Euro 2024 qualifying victory over Spain on Tuesday at Hampden Park, insists he and his team-mates are relishing the challenge that lies ahead for the Reds in the months of April and May.
"It is obviously a big week, we are playing against three big teams and yeah it is going to be an intense week but it’s what you look forward to when you come to this club," the defender told Mirror Football. "These are the big games you want to be involved in.
“We don’t want to be in this position, and it’s no denying it’s a big week ahead, but we don't really have time to waste, we don't have any mistakes left in us if we want to achieve top four."
The two-legged defeat to 14-time European champions Real Madrid earlier this month ensured Liverpool will finish the campaign without silverware. Meanwhile, eight defeats in the Premier League, including at both Nottingham Forest and Bournemouth, means it's top-four or bust for Klopp's side between now and the end of the campaign. Something Robertson believes is down to their lack of consistency.
“It has to be on the highest level when you play at this club - you don't get an option not to do that, the people around the club demand that," added the 29-year-old. "I think we do that, but we have just lacked a little bit of consistency this season.
“In the last five or six years consistency is the one word that would be put next to our name, as we always showed up and even when not at our best we still managed to grind out results. We haven’t done that this season, and we have to fix that.”
