Andy Robertson most popular Scot in Premier League as Kieran Tierney falls behind Man United star McTominay

Liverpool star Andrew Robertson has topped a list detailing the most popular Scottish players in the Premier League - collating almost double that of Scott McTominay in terms of Instagram followers.

The Scotland skipper joined Liverpool in 2017 from Hull City, and has gone from strength-to-strength in his time south of the border, winning every major accolade in English football alongside the UEFA Champions League and the Club World Cup under the guidance of German boss Jurgen Klopp.

Becoming a mainstay in Liverpool's side in a defence that boasts former Celtic star Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold, his increased profile on the continental stage has racked up an unfathomable amount of followers due to Liverpool's global following. And, in new data gathered by Seatpick, it is apparent that Robertson is by far the most popular Scottish player in the English top-flight - with the Reds star almost doubling the follow count of McTominay in second, and quadrupling the numbers accrued by Kieran Tierney in third.

Robertson sits by far and away as the leader at the top with 3.9million followers as a result of his extended time in the continental limelight. McTominay comes in second place; his 2.3m followers come as a result of playing for one of the biggest clubs in the world - making over 180 appearances for the Red Devils albeit with no trophies to show for his name.

Celtic favourite Kieran Tierney ranks in third, surprisingly with only 1m followers despite his legend status at Parkhead and Premier League credentials at Arsenal of recent. The first surprise inclusion comes in Billy Gilmour, with the former Rangers starlet ranking just behind Tierney with 983,000 - his prodigy status and time at Chelsea has seen him come under the spotlight in recent years.

We then see a huge drop in numbers with the next entry of John McGinn, with the Aston Villa captain boasting 285,000 followers as he ranks in fifth place. And making up the top ten are right-back starlets Calvin Ramsay and Nathan Patterson, ex-Celtic hero Ryan Christie, Che Adams and finally Ryan Fraser, who are all in the 100k followers bracket.
