Andy Robertson has backed Liverpool new boy Luis Diaz to get even better after he again showed his class in the win over Villarreal.
The Colombian moved to the Reds in January from Porto and has made an instant impact on Merseyside. He has been able to force his way into the club's forward line and provides Jurgen Klopp with yet another option in the final third. He was called upon at Villarreal on Tuesday night.
Liverpool were 2-0 down against the Spanish side with their place in the final in the balance. Diaz was able to score the equaliser on the night having replaced Diogo Jota as the Reds managed to claim a 3-2 win on the night. Robertson has played on the same flank as the winger, whom he has backed to improve further.
The Scot said: "He's a special, special player. The talent he has, the will he has to win. He fits us perfectly... He's been special since he came in and hopefully he'll only get better with a full pre-season which is scary."
Virgil van Dijk has also hailed Diaz's determination, especially against opposition defenders. He said: "The way he goes one versus one is amazing. It doesn't matter who he is against, he just goes at them. If he loses the ball he wins it right back and goes again. It's very hard to defend against."
Klopp called upon Diaz to turn the momentum at the interval having claimed the starting front three of Jota, Sadio Mane and Mo Salah were not doing enough off the ball. Liverpool struggled to impose themselves in the opening 45 but it was a different story in the second-half.

The German said on his changes: “We had no real build-up, we didn’t play in the right spaces and then we kicked long balls somewhere and tried to force it. We just explained to the boys where we have to play, what we have to do, where we have to be stronger and move smarter. We didn’t move enough, front three were too fixed – we had to mix that up to cause them problems. We played in their hands.”
He added on the win: “Outstanding, massive – it feels like the first one because it’s always so special. I love it, the sound of it … the whole night. It feels so special because it was so difficult for us. Before the game, I told the boys I wanted the headlines to be the mentality monsters were in town. I wanted it from the first moment but the second half was like that. How we came back in the second half was so special. It was a top performance."
