Andy Robertson admits Liverpool stars have discussed growing problem in dressing room

Andy Robertson has blasted his team-mates as Liverpool struggle to correct their tendency to concede the opening goal in their games.

The Reds once again conceded first on Monday night when they were defeated by Manchester United. That led to them losing 2-1, with Jurgen Klopp 's side still winless after their first three matches of the new Premier League season.

Klopp's men are now hovering just outside the relegation zone, with their defensive vulnerability plaguing their attempts to win their first game. It is a problem that Robertson has now admitted has been discussed with the Reds' dressing room.

"We need to put our fingers on it quickly, we need to come together as a team because we can’t keep going out there, it’s easy talking about it in the changing room, before the game but we have to go out and do it," he told Sky Sports.

"We have to be a team that starts the game well, puts the pressure on the team not the other way about. That’s three games this season, maybe Crystal Palace is different we started the game well but Fulham started better than us, they started better than us today.

"Last season, Wolves, Real Madrid, Southampton, it needs to change, in this league you can’t keep giving them a head start now that’s what we’re doing. We can't keep conceding goals. We have to be a team that starts the game well and puts pressure on the other team and not the other way around.

"This league is unforgiving, we need results quickly we need to start kicking into gear. Once we start doing that, I’m sure we’ll look back on this and that’s what kickstarted it but we need our first three points thats for sure."

Robertson blasted the Reds for their "really poor" opening to the season and called on his team-mates to improve. They host Bournemouth on Saturday, with the Cherries having been comfortably beaten by Manchester City and Arsenal.

"It’s definitely not been the start of the season we wanted it’s been really poor. We gave every team a goal start and that’s the base of the game, you can’t keep giving yourself an uphill battle," the left-back added.

"We’ve conceded an early goal again, started slow again, that’s what needs to change. You can’t keep going behind especially, in the warm up it’s the quietest I’ve ever heard this stadium, they wanted something to lift them and unfortunately we gave them it.

"They got behind the team, the players reacted and you find yourself 1-0 down. We started slow in the second half and found ourselves 2-0 down, you start to find your rhythm which we start creating chances, score a goal and we try to make them a wee bit nervous.

"But they didn’t, they seen the game out, two points from nine is not the start we wanted. We need to pick up our performances quickly and we need to kickstart our season that’s for sure."
