Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid is apparently quite the salesperson when it comes to convincing free agents to sign with his team.
New Chiefs linebacker Drue Tranquill detailed to NFL Network how Reid convinced him to sign as a free agent with Kansas City with just a few words over text.
“Think Red” and “Think Super Bowls” were the five words that convinced Tranquill to jump from the Los Angeles Chargers to the AFC West rival Chiefs.
“I was really honored by the way the Chiefs pursued me, all the way from the front office down to the coaching staff,” Tranquill told NFL Network. “Andy Reid literally texting me the morning of I was going to make my decision, and he’s like, ‘think Red, think Red, think Super Bowls,’ so I just felt really valued over there, felt like they really had a role for me and really wanted me over there.”

Reid making that grand of a pitch would likely convince plenty of NFL free agents, so that’s part of what probably made this a special invitation for Tranquill as he weighed his NFL future.
The Chiefs have won two Super Bowls with Patrick Mahomes at quarterback and Reid on the sideline, and they’ll now have a strong linebacker in Tranquill in tow to help them win a third.
