Andy Reid once got a play call idea from a janitor and it actually led to a touchdown

Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid told an absolutely fascinating story about the most unlikely touchdown on a recent podcast.

While talking with former NFL player Chris Long on his podcast, Reid shared a story about how he got a play idea from a very smart janitor while the coach worked as an assistant with the Green Bay Packers in the 1990s.

Reid said that the janitor’s play idea actually worked out incredibly well because it helped the Packers score a touchdown in an actual NFL game.

You never know where great football ideas are going to come from, after all!

To Reid, using that play call was just another example of why he’s had the type of career he’s had as an NFL head coach.

He seems very willing to just take good ideas from anywhere, and that’s definitely part of why he’s had the longevity he’s had in the profession.
