Andy Murray-backed Castore sets its sights on European expansion

Sportswear brand Castore, which is backed by the likes of Andy Murray, has set its sights on growing its presence across Europe.

The Manchester-headquartered company has promised more kit deals in the future after signing with the likes of Feyenoord Rotterdam, Athletic Club Bilbao, Football Association of Ireland, FC Utrecht, and FC Twente.

The business has also said its partnership with Oracle Red Bull Racing has been "integral in solidifying" its European presence, specifically in the Netherlands.

Castore has also been opening stores in cities across the Netherlands, Spain and Ireland while it has further plans to open more shops over the next year.

The expansion is being supported by its new distribution centre in Rotterdam which is opened in December 2022.

Castore was founded in 2015 by Wirral-based brothers Phil and Tom Beahon and also counts the billionaire Issa brothers as shareholders.

Earlier this month, the business increased its sales forecast for 2023 by 30% to $250m.

In January the company increased the size of debt facility to £75m after previously agreeing a £50m revolving credit facility in 2022 with HSBC, BNP Paribas and Silicon Valley Bank. At the time, Castore was said to be valued at £750m.

Tom Beahon said: "We’ve put considerable effort into our European expansion, which aligns with our mighty ambitions for Castore to be the world’s number one premium sports brand.

"Right now, we’re incredibly proud of our efforts to secure numerous EU kit deals, as well as our ongoing partnership with Oracle Red Bull Racing and our newly opened Rotterdam distribution centre.

"It’s an exciting time for Castore, as we’re determined to continue this expansion and position the brand as a key player in the European market."
