Andy Halliday told of moving Hearts reaction to derby double as Jambo grants him John Robertson's moniker on air

Hearts hero Andy Halliday continued to soak up the adulation from Edinburgh's maroon half after a sensational derby double.

Appearing on Clyde One's Superscoreboard, the midfielder was in an understandably buoyant mood after his two goals against Hibs.

His strikes sandwiched Stephen Kingsley's goal which put the home side ahead on Saturday after Drey Wright gave Shaun Maloney's men an early lead.

And first up on the switchboard was a delighted Jambo who greeted him by the moniker club legend John Robertson went by across two Tynecastle spells that saw him smash 27 derby goals past their rivals.

He began: "Evening Gordon (Duncan), evening Hugh (Keevins), evening Hammer of the Hibs.

"I'm absolutely delighted. After the first 20 minutes when Hearts settled down, totally dominated and it was brilliant to see Andy score a couple of goals."

The caller then suggested Halliday's double got it "up them" in reference to the Hibs support that had been winding him up in the first-half and an amused Halliday said: "Kept it PG there, just! On the borderline.

"To be honest I was reading the programme notes and I was shocked to see Hearts hadn't beaten Hibs at Tynecastle since 2018.

"So it was a real carrot dangled in front of us before. I took it personally, yep."

But after the opening bravado the call took an emotional turn as Halliday was told of the personal impact his heroics had on one family.

The caller continued: "I'm a single dad with two kids who I brought up alone since their mum died.

"And the joy on the two boys' faces at full-time on Saturday will live with me forever."
