Andy Goram’s son Danny will play in goals for Rangers Legends in memory of his dad.
The 36-year-old will make a guest appearance for their first match since the Ibrox legend lost his cancer battle. Ex-Gers and Scotland keeper Goram played regularly for the charity team.
They will take on the Royal Engineers in Chatham, Kent, on Saturday – and Danny is expected to play his dad’s position for 10 minutes. Charlie Miller, Derek Ferguson, Marvin Andrews and Colin Hendry will all feature.
Gary McSwegan and Bob Malcolm are also in the squad, which is managed by Ian Durrant and Goram’s best pal Stan Gordon. It comes just days after they attended The Goalie’s funeral at the Wellington Church in Glasgow’s west end on Monday.
Stan said: “It’s been an emotional week and it’s not finished yet as Andy would’ve been in Chatham. It’s going to be another emotional day.
"We’re really proud Danny will be there with us and taking part. It will be good for him to be in the dressing room and experience what his dad loved doing.
“The team will be so proud to have The Goalie’s son on the pitch with us. There will be a dinner after it and no doubt plenty of stories will be told.”
Goram died just 10 weeks after being diagnosed with cancer. He spent his last days in St Andrew’s Hospice in Lanarkshire, before passing away on July 2.
Hundreds stood outside Ibrox to say farewell. Others gathered outside Blantyre’s Stonefield Tavern – Goram’s favourite pub.
Saturday’s kick-off is at 2pm at Bauvill Stadium and spectators can pay at the gate. Tickets can also be purchased from Stuart Rankin on Facebook and some proceeds will be donated to Goram’s family.
