Emmerdale legend Andy Devine has died at the age of 79.
The actor, who played Shadrach Dingle in the much-loved ITV soap, passed away in January.
News of his sad death has only just come to light now.
Public records confirm he died on January 27, with the cause of his death not publicly confirmed yet.
Born Peter Devine, Andy played the iconic role of Shadrach that he would come to be best known for between 2000 and 2010.
He served in the Royal Navy in the 1960s before becoming a classical actor and then going into soaps.
Some of his other best known characters included a Draconian Guard in several episodes of the Doctor Who story Frontier in Space, as well as Bernard in Channel 4's Queer As Folk.
The star bowed out of Emmerdale on July 23 2010.
He was killed off in an emotional alcohol abuse storyline.
Since news of his passing started to spread, tributes have been paid on Twitter.
One fan said: "Just heard the sad news that Andy Devine who played Shadrach Dingle in #Emmerdale and Bernard in Queer as Folk passed away in January. Brilliant comic characters that he played so well."
One added: "Sad to read the news Andy Devine has died."
