U.S. defense contractor Anduril Industries is set to establish a significant advanced manufacturing facility in central Ohio, as announced by state officials. The California-based company plans to construct a massive facility named 'Arsenal 1' on a 500-acre site near Rickenbacker International Airport in Pickaway County. This facility, spanning 5 million square feet, aims to create around 4,000 jobs in the region's growing high-tech sector.

Anduril Industries, known for its defense technology, intends to commence the construction of Arsenal 1 pending necessary state and local approvals. The facility is expected to become operational in July 2026, focusing on the production of military drones and autonomous air vehicles.

Ohio Governor Mike DeWine highlighted this project as the largest job creation and payroll initiative in the state's history. He emphasized Ohio's rich aviation legacy, tracing back to the Wright brothers and the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in the Dayton area.

The state's strategic economic development efforts, including a robust aerospace workforce and educational institutions geared towards advanced manufacturing, played a pivotal role in attracting Anduril's investment. Ohio's aerospace sector also features prominent players like GE Aerospace and Joby Aviation, further solidifying its position as a hub for aerospace innovation.

Anduril's Ohio facility aligns with its mission to revolutionize U.S. military manufacturing by leveraging cutting-edge software and production technologies. This initiative contributes to Ohio's emerging 'silicon corridor,' which includes major projects by companies like Intel, Honda, and LG Energy Solution.

As part of the project, Anduril will seek a job creation tax credit from the Ohio Department of Development and financial support from the All Ohio Future Fund. JobsOhio is also set to provide a substantial grant and talent acquisition services to facilitate the project's success.
