Andrew Whitworth won’t be on the field with the Los Angeles Rams next season, but he knows someone who will be: Aaron Donald.
Donald has flirted with retirement this offseason and has yet to fully commit to playing in 2022. With the Rams working on an extension for Donald, it only seems likely that he’ll be back in horns next season, and Whitworth has no doubt that’ll be the case.
While speaking to TMZ Sports, Whitworth said he believes Donald will be back on the field next season.
“Dominate on the football field again,” Whitworth said when asked what he thinks Donald will do. “That’s what I know he knows how to do well and I’m sure he’s gonna be doing it again in 2022.”
“So you think he’s coming back?” the cameraman asked.
“No doubt,” Whitworth said. “I talk to AD a lot, but there’s no doubt about him, the way his work ethic and the way he does things, he’ll be back on that field dominating again.”
After completing Matthew Stafford’s contract, the Rams will now push to get Donald’s deal done next. That should be a priority, especially now that they’ve cleared cap space to make an extension fit more easily.
Not to mention, the Rams could also lower Donald’s cap hit this year by extending him, similar to the way they did with Stafford’s contract. Once he puts pen to paper, Donald will officially be back for another run at a ring.
