Andrew Tate outlines his conditions for fight with UFC star Conor McGregor

Andrew Tate has revealed he would need to have a "personal problem" with UFC superstar Conor McGregor to fight him in the boxing ring.

Former kickboxer Tate previously reigned as a four-time world champion and claims to have a record of 43-9 as a professional. Since gaining notoriety online for his controversial views, Tate has flirted with a sporting comeback and has received call-outs including from YouTube star Logan Paul.

Tate insists he would return to the ring providing he is lucratively rewarded for any appearance. And he believes that a fight with UFC star McGregor, who has not fought since last July, would have potential to generate huge revenue. "That’s an interesting one, I guess," Tate said when asked during an interview with Rob Moore if he would consider a fight with McGregor.

"I mean he is still in his prime, I’m a lot bigger than him. He is very good, very capable. We would certainly have a lot of good trash talk. It would make a lot of money but again I would need a personal problem with him to fight him. I have nothing against Conor, kind of like the guy so there would have to be a good reason."

McGregor has not fought since last July having broken his leg in his second successive defeat by Dustin Poirier but will likely return in 2023 as he continues his rehabilitation programme. However he could be an ideal opponent for Tate given his experience both in the MMA ranks and in the squared circle.

The Irishman has teased a return to the boxing ring on multiple occasions since his first appearance which generated huge revenue in defeat by boxing legend Floyd Mayweather five years ago. He has recently confirmed he will first return to the UFC despite Mayweather claiming rematch talks are underway.

Tate would carry a high level of star power if he were to step into the ring with McGregor, with any event likely expected to generate significant audience figures given the size of their profiles. The 34-year-old has stated his ambition to return to the ring before the end of his career but is currently focused on rewriting his story in the UFC.

"Boxing is my first love in combat sports," McGregor told Sky Sports. "I had such a great time the last time I was out there. Obviously, my return will be in the octagon for UFC. That story is far from over, in fact it's just being written. It is just the beginning but boxing, for sure, I will grace the squared circle again in the future."
