Andrew Tate has revealed how "cockroaches, lice and bed bugs" are his only friends at night as he continues to be held in prison in Romania. The former kickboxer and social media personality says the cell in which he is being held after being arrested last month on suspicion of human trafficking, rape, and organised crime, is crawling with insects and has no light.
Tate, 36, revealed his complaints in an email to his followers from jail, where he remains after the court in the Romanian capital Bucharest ruled that he must remain for another month. The Mirror reports that Tate sent the message to followers of his website, calling it, 'My first email from imprisonment'.
Tate complained: "They are trying to break me. Thrown inside a cell without light. Cockroaches, lice, and bed bugs are my only friends at night.
"When the guards bring me to and from the courtroom, I stay absolutely respectful. They try to pour hatred into my heart."
Tate also claims that his prison guards "know" he is "innocent". The former four-time kickboxing world champion is now able to receive messages whilst in prison, posting an email address on Twitter for his followers to send him mail.
Among his other claims was that, "Every generation's great revolutionaries suffer from unfair imprisonment."
Tate and his brother, Tristian, who have denied all the allegations against them, rose to fame on social media last year with videos of them on TikTok, receiving billions of views. Tate, who was nicknamed "Cobra" during his kickboxing career, had most of his social media accounts removed but has since been reinstated on Twitter following Elon Musk's takeover of the platform.
Romanian prosecutors allege that the brothers are among four suspects who "appear to have created an organised crime group with the purpose of recruiting, housing and exploiting women by forcing them to create pornographic content. They would have gained important sums of money."
