(Picture: AP)Andrew Tate has complained to his supporters about prison conditions he faces during his detention in Romania over alleged human trafficking and rape charges.
The self-proclaimed misogynist influencer tried to speak to reporters as he was taken out of a police van outside the office where prosecutors comb through his computers and phones seized in a raid on his home.
Asked if his career was now over as he was led into the Directorate for Investigating Organized Crime and Terrorism (DIICOT) in handcuffs, he replied: “Absolutely not. This case file is empty. Of course [I am innocent] we have done nothing wrong, they know we have done nothing wrong. The case file is completely empty.”
“There is no justice in Romania ” he barks as he is dragged out of sight into the building.
His comments came the day after the Luton-born former kickboxer complained online about his treatment in the hands of Romanian authorities.
He wrote an email to his subscribers from behind bars, saying: “They are trying to break me.
“Thrown inside a cell without light.
“Cockroaches, lice, and bed bugs are my only friends at night.
“When the guards bring me to and from the courtroom, I stay absolutely respectful. They try to pour hatred into my heart.”
He added: “My prison guards are just performing their job, they have families to feed.
“My absolute respect for everyone around me is my act of absolute rebellion. They cannot break me. My guards know I am innocent. They know it is unjust.”
The kickboxer turned far-right influencer was arrested on December 29 on suspicion of being part of an organised crime group, as well as human trafficking and rape.
The Tate brothers, according to prosecutors, used the ‘loverboy’ method of seducing female victims while pretending to want a relationship or marriage with them.
The victims were then taken to properties on the outskirts of the capital Bucharest and through physical violence and mental intimidation were sexually exploited by being forced to produce pornographic content for social media sites that generated large financial gain, prosecutors said.
Tristan Tate and two women were also arrested but all four deny the allegations. They could now be in custody until February 27. Under Romanian law, they can be held for a maximum for 180 days without being charged.
Police moved in on his villa on the outskirts of Bucharest at the end of December. It followed a Twitter feud between Andrew Tate and climate activist Greta Thunberg.
Tate posted a video, in which he was seen with pizza boxes from a local takeaway, and rumours circulated this gave away his whereabouts to authorities - although police have denied this is true.
