Andrew Tate explains why he rejected boxing fight with Floyd Mayweather

Andrew Tate has revealed he couldn't bring himself to accept an offer to fight his "hero" Floyd Mayweather.

Former kickboxer Tate has gained notoriety in the social media world for his contentious views and has been called out by some of combat sports biggest names. Tate has not fought as a professional fighter since 2020, but previously reigned as a former four-time kickboxing world champion and claims to have a record of 43-9.

He has talked up several fights in recent weeks including a shot at YouTube star Logan Paul who has now renewed his call-out to the 35-year-old. However Tate would not be willing to step in the ring with boxing legend 'Money' Mayweather, but is confident he would not be knocked out by the undefeated star if they did touch gloves.

"No and I got offered that fight," Tate replied when asked by Rob Moore during an interview if he would fight Mayweather. "I got offered that fight and he is one of my heroes so I couldn't bring myself to do it. Even though he is small and he is so good but he is retired it is Floyd Mayweather. I am a lot bigger than him and I wouldn't be knocked out and I would be fine.

"He is one of my heroes and I think he is the best boxer of all-time and I couldn't bring myself to do it. I love his story, I love his confidence, I love how every single word out of his mouth is self-hypnosis and I love how he hypnotises his opponents. I love his style, everyone says he is boring. He is not boring and if you appreciate defence he is the best he has ever been. So I couldn't bring myself to throw a punch, I have very few heroes but he is one of them."

Mayweather is currently fighting on the exhibition circuit, so it is likely Tate was offered such an outing with the boxing legend. Mayweather has fought in two fights in Japan against Tenshin Nasukawa and Mikuru Asakura since his retirement, in addition to outings against Logan Paul and Don Moore with every fight generating huge wealth for the retired champion.

He will next fight YouTube star Deji on November 13 at the Coca Cola Arena and has vowed to continue his series of showcases next year. Tate has teased an appearance in the boxing ring having held talks with both Paul and his YouTube rival KSI, but talks have stalled given his ban from social media.

Tate claims he does not want to fight for financial reward, but would demand that he be the A-side in any negotiations, particularly with Paul. The ex-kickboxer is already back in training ahead of a potential return to fighting, but it remains unclear if an opponent will be willing to hand him a platform after his ban.
