Andrew Tate complains about prison conditions as he contacts supporters via email

Controversial social media influencer Andrew Tate has reportedly sent out his first email since being arrested in Romania as part of a human trafficking investigation.

The email saw Tate complain about being "thrown inside a cell without light", and that the facility is full of "cockroaches".

On Tuesday, the 36-year-old reportedly sent out a newsletter to followers of his website titled, "My first email from imprisonment". In the message to his supporters, the former kickboxer discussed the prison conditions after it was ruled he and his brother must remain in jail for at least another month.

The email was made public by YouTube account Fesify, which published a video in which the contents of the mail were read out. As quoted by The Mirror, Tate said: "I will send you my daily lessons from an unjust imprisonment.

"They're trying to break me. Thrown inside a cell without light. Cockroaches, lice and bed bugs, are my only friends at night.

"When the guards bring me to and from the courtroom, I stay absolutely respectful.

"They try to pour hatred into my heart. But please and thank you, you stick with me at all times.

"Our prison guards are just performing their jobs, they have families to feed in times of hardship. Do not forget your manners.

"They are trying to break my iron mind with unjust imprisonment. My absolute respect for everyone around me is my act of absolute rebellion. They cannot break me."

Tate and his brother Tristan were detained on December 29 - along with two unnamed Romanian female suspects - on suspicion of human trafficking, rape and formation of an organised crime group with the aim of exploiting women. Both men have denied any wrongdoing.

The Directorate for Investigating Organized Crime and Terrorism (Diicot) in Romania stated it had identified a total of six victims who were subject to "acts of physical violence and mental coercion" and were "sexually exploited by group members".

The divisive brothers appeared in court on January 10 to appeal against the seizure of their belongings by Romanian authorities (a total of 15 luxury cars and over 10 properties) as well as the prolonging of their arrest warrants from just 24 hours to a total of 30 days.

However, a Romanian court subsequently ruled that their detention could be extended, with a potential further month added on, which would set a new release date of February 27.
