Andrew Tate breaks silence outside home following release from Romanian jail

Andrew Tate has said that "justice will be served" after he and his brother Tristan were released from jail in Romania following a three-month stint in custody.

The four-time world kickboxing champion and his younger sibling were arrested on suspicion of alleged human trafficking and forming an organised crime group in late December. On Friday evening, the pair were released from prison in Bucharest alongside two British woman related to the investigation, with the group now being held on house arrest.

Earlier this week, the brothers' attempt to overturn a decision denying them bail failed, however on Friday they were able to successfully appeal last week's decision to extend their incarceration by an extra 30 days, the Mirror reports.

Speaking to reporters outside his residency, Tate said: "The judges who heard us today, they were very attentive, they listened to us and they let us know, so I have absolute respect for them.

"I have no resentment in my heart for the country of Romania over anybody else, I just believe in the truth. I believe in god and I think that the fire of the truth will destroy all lies and anybody who lies over a long enough time frame will feel regret. I truly believe that justice will be served in the end, there is zero per cent chance of me being found guilty of something I have not done.

"I maintain my absolute innocence and I think most people understand this. I look forward to being home, so thank you very much everyone."

When asked what he plans to do over the next few days, the 36-year-old replied: "When I was in jail I did 7,417 push-ups, I would like to get to 10,000 before the end of the weekend. I will focus on the push-ups and I will read the Quran. Thank you."

Posting to his Twitter account @Cobratate, which has over 5.5million followers, Tate simply put: ":)". He later wrote in a follow-up tweet: "Email regarding my release will be sent in 24 hours. God is great."

Following his and Tristan's releases, a spokesperson for the brothers told Mirror Fighting: "We are ecstatic to announce the Romanian judicial system approved Andrew and Tristan Tate's appeal against last week's extension decision."

In December, Romanian authorities carried out a raid on a property owned by Tate and seized a number of assets with an estimated value of around $3.9m (£3.1m). The American-English siblings, who vehemently deny all allegations against them, attempted to appeal their imprisonment five times, but were rejected by the court on every occasion.

Prior to Wednesday's hearing, the Tate's could have faced up to six months in detention as part of their 'preventative arrest', despite not facing any formal charges. Following their arrest, a number of online petitions were set up calling for their release.

Born in Washington D.C. and the son of an international chess master, Tate lived in a number of places across the US during his childhood, including Chicago, Illinois and Goshen, Indiana.

When Andrew's parents divorced, he and Tristan - who is two years younger than him - moved to Luton. Following his kickboxing career and an appearance on Big Brother, Andrew gained notoriety as online influencer who encouraged men to embrace a controversial masculine culture.

Throughout 2022, he and Tristan continued to grow their presence online, causing more controversy with their outspoken views on women and various political issues. Andrew was previously banned from Twitter after the social media platform deemed that he was expressing misogynistic opinions.
