Andrew Tate and brother face fresh criminal investigation after landing in Florida

Self-declared misogynist Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan are facing yet another criminal investigation after recently arriving in the United States.

The controversial 38-year-old ‘internet personality’ and his 36-year-old brother are being investigated by Florida's attorney general, James Uthmeier, after flying into the country from Romania.

Tate and his brother previously faced allegations of trafficking of minors, sexual intercourse with a minor and money laundering, resulting in their house arrest in Romania.

However, a recent pause on the house arrest resulted in the brothers swiftly travelling to the United States.

Mr Uthmeier has confirmed that the brothers now face an active US inquiry and have issued search warrants and subpoenas.

"Last week, I directed my office to work with our law enforcement partners to conduct a preliminary inquiry into Andrew and Tristan Tate,” he said.

"Based on a thorough review of the evidence, I've directed the Office of Statewide Prosecution to execute search warrants and issue subpoenas in the now-active criminal investigation into the Tate brothers."

A lawyer for the Tate brothers later released a statement that appeared to criticise Mr Uthmeier’s investigation.

The statement read: "Attorney General James Uthmeier threw ethics law out of the window when he publicly took a side in an ongoing Florida lawsuit where Andrew and Tristan Tate are suing a Florida woman for orchestrating a sophisticated plot to use sex as a weapon to ruin their lives."

A representative for the Tate brothers has been approached by The London Standard for comment.

Tate and his brother continue to deny all the charges that they are facing.

It’s been reported that the brothers must return to the Romanian capital of Bucharest at the end of March in order to comply with prosecutors’ requirements.

Tate has a long history of making offensive comments about women and sexual assault while promoting a misogynistic view of the world that emphasises male supremacy.

The Tate brothers also face legal challenges elsewhere in the world.

Police in Bedfordshire are seeking the extradition of Tate to the UK after securing an arrest warrant related to sepeare allegations of rape and human trafficking.

A number of women involved with the UK proceedings claim they experienced sexual violence by Tate and are now calling on UK politicians to act.

“We urge the UK Government to immediately request Tate’s extradition from the US to the UK to face justice,” they said.

“If it doesn’t, it won’t just be us it will be failing, but all British victims of alleged sexual violence.

“We do not doubt the Home Secretary’s personal commitment to victims of sexual violence, but we need action, not words.”
