Andres Iniesta marks anniversary of famous goal at Chelsea by calling up children of the 'Iniestazo'

To mark the anniversary of his famous goal against Chelsea, former Barcelona midfielder Andres Iniesta has called up some of the young fans conceived after his epic tie-clinching strike at Stamford Bridge.

Barca looked to be heading out of the Champions League on May 6, 2009 as they trailed to a Michael Essien goal in the sides' semi-final second leg in London, but Iniesta struck at the death to send the Catalans through to the final on away goals.

Pep Guardiola's side went on to win the treble and then a historic sextet later in the year as the Spanish Supercopa, UEFA Super Cup and Club World Cup were added to the LaLiga, Copa del Rey and Champions League titles claimed in 2008-09.

Iniesta's strike, which came just over a year before his World Cup-winning goal for Spain in South Africa, made it all possible and is fondly remembered by Barcelona fans as the "Iniestazo".

A documentary film released last month reveals that there was a 16 per cent spike in the birth rate in Catalonia nine months after Iniesta's goal at Stamford Bridge and in a tweet posted on Wednesday, the midfielder can be seen surprising some of those young fans in video calls from his home in Japan, where he now plays for Vissel Kobe.

"To celebrate the anniversary of a very special goal, I have called some friends to share an unforgettable and very familiar moment..." Iniesta wrote on Twitter in a post which also featured winking emoji and a video of him speaking to some of the lucky youngsters.

In it, one boy's mother explains how she found out she was pregnant and realised the timing of the conception, while Iniesta is asked by one of the young fans when he will return to the Catalan club and says: "I would like to. I have spent all my life at Barca."
