Andreas Christensen will soon no longer be a Chelsea player. After weeks of back and forth with his contract demands, the Denmark international had decided to separate from the Blues and pursue a new challenge in Barcelona. His contract will expire at the end of this month, but unlike Antonio Rudiger, things are not yet set in stone for the Chelsea defender.
A move to Barcelona was all but certain for Christensen. The Catalans were clear that they would like to sign the 25-year-old in the summer given that he does not sign a new contract. It bough major disappointment to Chelsea fans as he was the “John Terry approved” center-back with a promising Chelsea future ahead of him
Since the turn of the year, it was clear that the Dane had no future with Chelsea, but he lands himself if a situation that is now out of his hands.

Andreas Christensen is still awaiting his official announcement to Barcelona. Antonio Rudiger has his official announcement released earlier this month for his new club Real Madrid. Christensen’s is expected to be next.
Speaking to Danish publication B.T he claims that his Barcelona announcement will be, “hopefully soon.” He explained: “I have known what I was going to do for a while. I'm just waiting for the right time. Unfortunately, it's not entirely up to me. There are also other things that need to fall into place.”
There’s a sort of weird joy that comes with knowing that Christensen’s deal is not yet official. It’s not a matter of hope where there is any belief he will eventually sign a new deal with Chelsea, but it’s the anticipation of having to wait the same way fans had to when his new Chelsea deal was seen as a “sure thing”.
In reference to Barcelona's recent financial trouble, Christensen went on to comment: “It is one of the biggest clubs in Europe. I think it is for everyone - whether they have had their problems or not, it is still one of the biggest clubs for a player to get to.”
The 25-year-old will most definitely find his way to the Catalans in due time. Their financial trouble doesn’t seem to be a hindrance for Christensen, despite a director openly admitting that the club needs about £500 million to stay above water.
