Andreas Christensen adds to Chelsea's injury worries as Thomas Tuchel laments Arsenal mistakes

Andreas Christensen is the latest name to be added to Chelsea's injury list as Thomas Tuchel confirmed the Denmark international had a problem that required him to be substituted at half-time. The 26-year-old was replaced by Thiago Silva at half-time with the scoreline at 2-2 at Stamford Bridge.

It was an unconvincing defensive performance across the board from the Blues, with Christensen lacking conviction in the heart of Chelsea's back three, as Tuchel's side fell to a third home defeat in a row. Chelsea have conceded four goals to Brentford and three to Real Madrid in the preceding matches at home before Arsenal netted four on Wednesday night.

Silva and Antonio Rudiger were missing from Chelsea's usual backline, with the latter suffering from a groin injury. The Blues certainly missed his presence, however Tuchel made it clear that Christensen's error in the game would not be a reason for his substitution.

In his press conference, the German coach said: "He [Christensen] said he could not continue, so I think he had some problems. I don't take a player out because he makes one mistake. To say the pitch is difficult to play here it maybe sounds like an excuse, but it is a very, very difficult pitch that we have here. It's not in our favour. The ball bounces very awkwardly in front of Andreas when he wants to play this ball. But still, we had the same mistake against Real Madrid that cost us the next round of the Champions League, and this one cost us the next match. I can't remember when we got two goals like this."

Tuchel reflected on Rudiger's absence but was swift to knock down the suggestion that was to blame. The 48-year-old suggested that his own tactics may not have been right but lamented Chelsea's mistakes.

He said: It's not about individual players. We need to have the tactics right, and it's doubtful if I had this right, and you need the team selection right. It's doubtful I got that right. It's impossible to win matches like this if you make mistakes like this. I don't see it in any other matches, but I see it in consecutive matches."
