Rodrigo Bentancur has already had some positive praise as a deal for the midfielder seems to be closing in for Tottenham, in the final days of the January transfer window.
Spurs are yet to sign anyone and have already missed out on the likes of Adama Traore and Luis Diaz during the window.
However, Birmingham Live reported on Sunday that the Uruguay international had reportedly turned down a move to Aston Villa as he favours a move to the capital more.
Bentancur was at Juventus during the time that Fabio Paratici was at the Italian club, which may help the Lilywhites in securing a deal for the 24-year-old.
The midfielder has made 26 appearances for his current side so far this season, contributing to three goals and featuring in the starting XI in the league on 13 occasions.
Juventus are currently fifth after 23 games and are just a point off fourth-place Atalanta, who do have a game in hand over them.
According to Transfermarket, Bentancur has a current market value of £22.5million and playing in the country's capital, with a world class manager in charge and Paratici's involvement at the club, the Uruguay international could be more inclined to make the move to Tottenham.
It will be a much needed deal for Spurs after the January window has so far only seen four academy players depart from N17.
Tottenham have struggled with creativity in the middle of the field this season, and although Bentancur may not have made as many contributions to goals as fans would have liked, praise he has already received shows his potential impact.
In 2017 and just after the 24-year-old had joined Juventus, his boss Max Allegri showed the faith he had in the midfielder, stating that he "may be the surprise of the championship."
The Uruguayan had made a name for himself at Juventus just a couple of months into his time at the club, as he received praise from the Italian newspaper, Gazzetta dello Sport.
"What has already emerged is his extraordinary talent to handle the ball, treating it like water in the desert," they explained. "It is rare to see a 20-year-old boy with his personality. Bentancur wants the ball at his feet and is always ready to start to move from box to box.
"The integrity of his repertoire makes him adaptable to almost every role in midfield."
This versatility could be a boost for Antonio Conte as he looks to improve his squad, which a signing like Bentancur could do for Spurs.
Just last year, former Juventus head coach Andrea Pirlo also praised the midfielder on his strength.
"Mamma mia…ball and chain is the best in the world. Maybe only Iniesta I saw stronger than him," Pirlo admitted.
Bentancur struggled to break into the regular XI under Pirlo initially, but worked to become a key player for the Italian side and went from strength to strength as the season went on.
The 42-year-old was trying to find strong partnerships in the middle of the field which the Uruguayan helped form, which Conte may hope he could replicate if the move to N17 was secured.
The 24-year-old also has 87.5% passing accuracy according to Whoscored, and with some influence and training under Conte it may be a step in the right direction to creating a stronger midfield for Spurs.
