Andre Onana sends cryptic message amid Manchester United transfer interest

Manchester United are looking to make progress with their hopes of bringing Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana to Old Trafford.

After wrapping up the signing of Mason Mount earlier this week, United are now in a hurry to try and get their second signing of the summer over the line. Football director John Murtough has been locked in discussions with Inter to try and reach an agreement for Onana to make the move to M16.

With David de Gea now looking more and more unlikely to sign a new deal, United desperately need to source a new No.1, and Onana has been identified as their primary target. Manager Erik ten Hag worked with the 27-year-old at Ajax and is keen to be reunited with him.

Reports in Italy have suggested that Onana has already met with United officials to discuss personal terms, despite the two clubs being yet to agree on a transfer fee. Nevertheless, the Reds are understood to be advancing with a deal to secure the shot-stopper's signature.

Onana, who is one of the best goalkeepers in the business when it comes to using his feet, took to Instagram to drop what some Inter supporters believe may have been a hint that he is closing in on a move to Old Trafford. The goalkeeper uploaded an image to his Instagram Story of him looking to the sky and smiling.

As he accompanied the post with no caption, it is impossible to say what the meaning of the post was, even if some Inter fans have suspicions that it may have meant an exit from the San Siro is brewing. That is because former Inter star Marcelo Brozovic, last week, took to the same social media platform to share almost an identical photograph.

Though his was posted on his main Instagram page, opposed to his story, he shared an image of him looking up to the sky with his arms raised. He accompanied the post with black and blue love hearts, resembling the Inter colours.

The Croatian recently left Inter to join Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr, meaning he has teamed up with the likes of former United striker Cristiano Ronaldo and ex-Arsenal goalkeeper David Ospina. He had been on Inter's books since 2015.

In comparison, Onana has been at the San Siro nowhere near as long, only joining the club last July. However, he excelled in his first season in Italy, keeping 19 clean sheets, winning two trophies and helped the club reach the Champions League final.
