Andi Peters couldn't hide his disappointment when a member of the public insulted him while he was out hosting the competition segment for This Morning. Fans are used to seeing the TV star on Good Morning Britain and Lorraine but on Thursday (September 29), he stretched out his daytime duties to the popular show.
The presenter was out and about on the streets of Birmingham as he prepared to give away another big cash prize to viewers watching at home. As Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield sat in the studio, Andi got chatting to members of the public who were minding their own business and getting on with the day.
But there was a moment when an impromptu interview didn't quite go to plan and as Holly, 41, and Phillip, 60 checked in, the 52-year-old former children's TV star appeared gobsmacked.
He said: "I'm mortified. I'm so upset." Then referring to a woman stood near him, who was hiding her face with her coat, Andi explained she had been talking to him off camera she told him he "looked older in real life." Looking surprised, he said: "This lady's just come up to me," as the woman in question tried to get out of shot.
"She's running away now," Andi went on. "She said I look older in real life! She said 'but maybe on the telly you wear a lot of makeup' but I was like 'you're kidding me, I'm wearing a lot right now.'" Not letting it go, Andi asked her: "How much older do you think I look in a real life?"
Holly looked surprised while Phillip tried to hide his laughter as the woman replied: "A lot older." Holly then quipped: "No wonder she's hiding," before adding: "Andi you look fabulous." Phillip also shouted: "He's not even aging! This is the man on telly that doesn't age!"
Eventually, the lady told him he looked between '45 and 50', which ended up being a result for Andi as he celebrated his 52nd birthday earlier this year. It didn't stop him, however, asking other members of the public how old they thought he was. While some knocked seven years off his actual ages, others stroked his ego by telling him he looked younger in real life.
Back in July, Good Morning Britain viewers didn't believe Andi was 52 when hosts Ranvir Singh and Ben Shephard helped present him with a birthday cake to mark the occasion. He was in the studio for an installment of 'Free Cash Friday' which sees Andi call viewers who have entered to win a money prize. All they have to do is answer the phone in three rings.
Andi said: "It's Friday, there's free cash, it's my birthday." Ben then said: "Andi Peters, did you just slip in that it was your birthday?" to which he replied: "I may have mentioned it was my birthday today, but only very briefly," And it wasn't long before Ben was quizzing him on his age.
He said he was 31 before quickly admitting he was actually 52. And GMB viewers were soon taking to social media to share their surprise. @Speedqueenie tweeted: "Andi Peters is 52 today. F I F T Y T W O Wow. #GMB." @sometimes_angry said: "How is Andi Peters 52? He looks amazing #GMB." A third said: "Andi just doesn't age," while a fourth added: "Andi Peters turning 52 makes me feel like a dinosaur." Another wrote: "Andi Peters is never 52! Happy birthday."
