Tension prevailed at the residence of Telugu Desam Party general secretary Nallari Kishore Kumar Reddy, younger brother of former Chief Minister of undivided Andhra Pradesh N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, at Nagaripalle village of Kalikiri mandal, on Tuesday, when the police of Valmikipuram circle kept the leader and the party cadres under house-arrest, preventing them from reaching Kallur village in Chittoor district, to stage a protest against an alleged attack on a TDP worker by the YSRCP activists a couple of days ago.
According to information, Mr. Kishore and the party workers were about to leave Nagaripalle, when a police team rushed to his residence and kept them under detention, after serving notice. After heated arguments between the police officials and the party cadres, the tense atmosphere subsided with the TDP leaders agreeing to postpone their stir.
Speaking to the media, Mr. Kishore alleged that it was undemocratic on the part of YSR Congress Party leaders to prevent TDP workers when they wanted to register a protest peacefully against physical attacks.
New district
Meanwhile, Mr. Kishore said that if the TDP came to power in 2024, a new district with Madanapalle as headquarters would be carved out to honour the sentiments of the region’s people. At the same time, he said that he was not opposed to Rayachoti as headquarters of Annamayya district.
