Telugu Desam Party (TDP) MLA Dola Bala Veeranjaneya Swamy has alleged that the Government of Andhra Pradesh was undermining the education system and the teachers, with ‘utter disregard’ for the future of the young generation.
In a statement on Sunday, Mr. Swamy said that Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy had reneged on his promise of conducting DSC examinations every year. “Further, the SGT posts have been cancelled. What is stopping the government from filling up 20,000 vacant teacher posts? It is condemnable that the G.O. No. 37 was issued, cancelling 4,764 SGT (secondary grade teacher) posts in 12 districts. Every district has lost 397 posts on an average,” said the TDP MLA.
Mr. Veeranjaneya Swamy alleged that the Chief Minister had done injustice to students of the model schools set up in 2013. These schools were sanctioned 163 Principals, 1,956 post graduate teachers (PGT) and 1,141 trained graduate teachers (TGTs).
The TDP MLA accused that the YSRCP government of ‘humiliating teachers’.
“Teachers were forced to sell liquor at the government shops. The teachers were lathicharged when they staged a protest in Vijayawada against irregularities in transfers. No support was extended to the families of teachers who succumbed to coronavirus infection,” the MLA alleged.
