Bharatiya Janata Party State unit president Somu Veerraju on Thursday demanded that the government roll back the hike in power tariff as it would otherwise impose an unbearable burden on the consumers.
He said in a press release that the people were already under the impact of the steep rise in the prices of essential commodities owing to various factors and the increase in power tariff would compound their woes.
While people were clueless about how to cope with the situation, power cuts were started unofficially. If the government did not give up the tariff hike, the BJP would organise a Statewide agitation, Mr. Veerraju warned.
