Andhra Pradesh: Discontent over Cabinet rejig sign of YSRCP’s downfall, says BJP MP

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP G.V.L. Narasimha Rao has said the brewing discontent among the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) cadres over the Cabinet reshuffle is a ‘clear sign of the beginning of the downfall of the ruling party’ in Andhra Pradesh .

“Denial of Cabinet berths has upset many MLAs and this is evident from the protests. Some of the disgruntled ones even stayed away from the swearing-in of the new Cabinet held at the Secretariat,” said Mr. Narasimha Rao told the media on Monday.

The BJP MP said that the internal bickering in the YSRCP was not unexpected as the incumbent Ministers were hopeful of retaining their posts, while aspirants apparently tried their luck.

Another glaring hint of the resentment was the resignation purportedly tendered by former Home Minister M. Sucharitha., he said.

“On what basis did Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy chose the new Ministers? In what capacity Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy, whose post was not Constitutional, was involved in the process?,” asked Mr. Narasimha Rao.

If Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy was serious about empowering the backward classes, he should have made an MLA from those communities the Chief Minister, he added.
